The T4YP ensemble of 2022 presents an experimental and highly interactive texted work as part of their Final Showcase.

The piece features a rotating cast that changes performance to performance, flexible seating, and involves the audience’s participation to bring to life the production in Pentas 2, klpac.

The work explores themes such as exploitation, matters of class, and justice and invites the audience to examine the systems that keep them running.

The Exception and the Rule (in German Die Ausnahme und die Regel) is a short play by German playwright Bertolt Brecht and is one of several Lehrstücke (Teaching plays) he wrote around 1929/30. It tells the story of a wealthy merchant who must cross the fictional Jahi Desert to close an oil deal.

Inspired by Brecht’s theories of Lehrstücke and epic theatre – this Pentas 2 production is interactive, features a rotating cast that changes from show to show, and requires the audience to participate in and engage with the performance.
