The Sungai Melaka Monorail that encountered a technical problem four hours after it was launched on Wednesday, resumed operations Friday.
Nazary Ahmad, the director of the monorail concessionaire Melaka Taming Sari Berhad, said the problem occurred due to the failure of power suppl to reach the coach.
But he said that the problem had been rectified Thursday.
“Our maintenance team worked late last night to calibrate the system and check on the system to ensure it can be used,” he told Bernama here Friday.
“The Sungai Melaka Monorail is strictly for tourists’ use and not for public transportation as reported in the media recently.”
The Sungai Melaka Monorail was launched by Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam on Wednesday and open to tourists and public Thursday with ticket prices at RM10 for adults and RM2 for children.
The journey using the monorail takes about 30 minutes and links Taman Rempah to the Hang Tuah station in Jalan Bunga Raya, a distance of 1.6km and can accommodate 22 passengers for each ride.
