Gardenia pledges RM500,000 to help flood victims

Gardenia products will be distributed to communities in affected areas with the cooperation of NADMA and NGOs during the year end monsoon season.

Gardenia Bakeries KL Sdn Bhd (Gardenia KL), has pledged a total of RM500,000 towards its 2022 national flood relief programme. The contribution in the form of popular Gardenia products will be distributed to communities in affected areas with the cooperation of the National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA) as well as the Social Welfare Department during the year end monsoon season.

“Gardenia KL is ever grateful for the trust and support that consumers have shown us all these years. In line with our #GardeniaCares philosophy, we firmly believe in giving back to the community,” shared Gardenia KL Corporate Affairs and Public Relations General Manager, Hazlinah Harun.

For its community outreach, Gardenia KL has collaborated with a few NGOs and Yayasan Food Bank Malaysia (YFBM).  Moving forward, Gardenia KL will work with relevant government agencies and NGOs that are involved in disaster relief and community welfare, to ensure the success of its flood relief programme.

The organisations Gardenia KL partnered with will assist in the distribution of Gardenia products at dedicated relief centres that will be identified according to the need throughout the year end monsoon season.  Meanwhile, the transportation of products from Gardenia KL’s bakeries to the relief centres nationwide will be handled by its own distribution team.

“Our team has years of experience with the distribution network. Their familiarity with the shortest and safest routes will enable fast and timely delivery to flood relief centres nationwide. We hope that the food supplies will in some small way comfort the flood victims,” added Hazlinah.

Learning from experience working alongside these organisations, Gardenia KL is committed to ensuring the distribution process is even smoother this time around to ensure that help reaches those in need in the shortest time.

In recent years, Gardenia KL has provided food aid to people affected by natural disasters under its #GardeniaCares movement.  During the December 2021 to January 2022 flood disaster, Gardenia KL contributed 161,900 units of products worth RM261,838 to flood-affected victims.

“We would like to take this opportunity to advise all those living in flood prone and low-lying areas to exercise extra caution and care during the next few months. For your own safety and that of your family and neighbours, be vigilant and be prepared to move to relief centres quickly. Have all important documents, valuables and medication packed and ready. The safety of lives is the most important thing. We hope everyone will follow the instructions of the relevant agencies and be safe,” Hazlinah advised.
