Marriott International recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Leading Innovative Technologies & Systems (LiTS) to install and operate public electric vehicle (EV) charging stations in all participating Marriott Bonvoy Hotels and Resorts in Malaysia by 2023.

In recognition of the Government’s push towards decarbonizing the electricity sector in Malaysia through the Renewable Energy Roadmap, this partnership supports the use of smart technology to drive clean energy for a sustainable future. Present at the signing ceremony were Mr. Rony Yohanes, Area Director of Engineering – Indonesia & Malaysia, and Mr. Lai Thiam Sin, Chief Executive Officer of LiTS.

“This is why we have embarked on this partnership with LiTS, installing EV charging stations at 30 of our properties throughout Malaysia. Our collaboration with LiTS brings us one step closer to realizing our sustainable goals and we hope to develop many more similar initiatives in the future,” said Ms. Rivero Delgado, Area Vice President, Malaysia, Singapore and Maldives, Marriott International.

As part of its sustainability targets for 2025, Marriott International’s hotel portfolio has embarked on efforts to lower its overall carbon footprint, whilst still meeting or exceeding guest expectations and driving operational efficiency and sustainability.

“LiTS is delighted to be partnering with Marriott International to embark on this project. With the increasing trend of electric vehicles in Malaysia, the installation of EV chargers will provide users with a seamless and more sustainable EV charging experience – in line with the country’s aim to become a carbon neutral nation by 2050. Further, as more Malaysians look towards sustainability, green and eco-friendly services and solutions, we want to be able to provide services that will support their respective green journeys. We look forward to further collaborations to expand the portfolio of green initiatives at Marriott International,” said Mr. Lai, Chief Executive Officer of LiTS.
