3 legendary Malaysian Indian bands performed on one stage for the first time

Return of the Legends concert featuring Yogi B & Natchatra, Brahma Kashmir Stone and Lock Up with Mista G, wowed the crowd with their hits

Three legendary Malaysian Indian bands made a massive comeback sharing the same stage on the 26th of November 2022 at Stadium Pasir Gudang, Johor Bahru. It truly was a Malaysian concert that featured their hit tracks from the 1990s to date. Yogi B & Natchatra, Brahma Kashmir Stone, and Lock Up with Mista G, wowed around 2,000 fans during the concert last Saturday. There were fans who came from as far as Kulim, Singapore and also Chennai who attended the concert and made it a big success.

The main concert organizer, Pitch Perfect, had the brilliant concept to reminisce the good old days of bringing in these legendary bands. Return of the Legends concert marked the first live concert of Malaysian Indian local artists since the lifting of the pandemic. The director of Pitch Perfect, Mogethen Gowrisan, said that it would be a good start to host a concert outside of the capital city, and that it should begin from the southern end of Peninsular Malaysia as many concerts were hosted in the country’s capital city.

Yogi B & Natchatra with Mista G

Yogi B & Natchatra are one of the first Tamil Hip-hop bands recognized worldwide that has also rapped in Kollywood movies. Lock Up, is another Malaysian Indian band that has won multiple awards and recognition. Kashmir Stone and band are Malaysia’s mid-90’s remarkable Tamil rock band that grasps many different ethnicities with their music and instruments. The three well known bands have sold hundreds of thousands of records and received millions of YouTube views to date. Millions of people have seen them perform all across the world, and all of their top tracks are still played at events and on radios.

A day prior to the performance, Pitch Perfect made an official announcement on their social media that there will be an additional surprise for the concert goers. The organizer revealed and decided to bring in another big time Malaysian Indian legend, Darkkey Nagaraja and Elan. These two legends stunned the crowd with their most celebrated songs as the opening act of the concert. 

A combination of all Malaysian Indian songs were queued up and played by the disk jockeys, DJ Jay and DJ Nexto before the event started. The hosts of the evening, Malaysian Indian stars Pashini Sivakumar and Revathy Mariappan, kept the audience engaged by thanking the event’s sponsors and posing straightforward questions and fun facts of the bands to the crowd.

Lock Up with Mista G, the first star of the night to perform and hyped the crowd with their hit tracks from the 90’s such as “Ring Ting Ting” and “Kookkorokko”  which are most of the 90s kids favorite. Yogi B & Natchatra were the second stars of the night that gave their classic and greatest of all time hits such as “Indian Girls” and “Madai Thiranthu”. The crowd kept cheering, rapping and danced along with them.

Lastly, Brahma Kashmir Stone and band gave their best shot and conquered the entire stage with their fiery performance.  Kashmir Stone was overjoyed by the crowd’s energy, and he promised to remember each and everyone for making the evening memorable in his last song “Manga Thoppu” during the closing.

It was undoubtedly an old is gold, and nostalgic show that took many down the memory lane. A big shout out to Pitch Perfect for giving a complete Malaysian flavor music from the start till the end.
