Ecolite Biotech Manufacturing Sdn Bhd, a Malaysian health and wellness company, has signed a long-term agreement with TotalEnergies ENEOS to provide its Malaysian facility with a 0.4 megawatt-peak (MWp) solar photovoltaic (PV) system.
Ecolite is a subsidiary of Sunzen Biotech Berhad, a publicly traded Malaysian company that specialises in animal health and nutrition. This system will power about 10% of the facility with renewable energy.
The PV system, which includes over 660 modules, will produce approximately 450 megawatt-hours (MWh) of renewable energy per year. This will assist Ecolite in lowering its carbon footprint by approximately 290 tonnes of CO2 emissions, which is equivalent to planting approximately 4,350 trees.
Steve Lim, Director of Ecolite Biotech Manufacturing Sdn Bhd said, “We are committed to sustainable development and growth, so pleased to have partnered with TotalEnergies ENEOS for this milestone project. Aside from translating to cost savings and energy efficiency for us, this is one of our contributions in the fight against global warming.”
Ecolite has been operating in Malaysia for more than 20 years since its establishment in 1996. Since its start, the company has embraced the passion for enhancing people’s health and has consistently upheld the conviction that a healthy balance may be achieved with nourishing products.
Sustainable solar energy solutions
The solar system will be entirely funded, installed, and operated by TotalEnergies ENEOS, while Ecolite will only be responsible for paying for the electricity produced over a 20-year period, with no up-front fees.
“As the leading provider of solar solutions in the region, we are dedicated to deliver solar solutions that are cost effective and environmentally friendly. TotalEnergies ENEOS provides its customers peace of mind from a technical, financial, and commercial perspective. We are pleased to support Ecolite and look forward to collaborate further in the future.” Elodie Renaud, Director of TotalEnergies ENEOS Renewables Distributed Generation Asia said,
TotalEnergies and ENEOS have formed a joint venture to develop onsite B2B solar distributed generation across Asia, with a goal of developing 2 GW of decentralised solar capacity over the next five years. This joint venture is ENEOS’ first overseas renewable energy project using distributed power sources.
ENEOS Corporation is actively involved in power generation projects that use biomass, hydroelectric power, wind power, and other renewable energy sources. In addition to operating approximately 20 solar power plants in Japan, the company is involved in renewable energy projects in the United States, Australia, and Vietnam.
TotalEnergies is a multinational energy corporation with operations in over 130 countries. It produces and distributes a wide range of energy sources, including renewable energy, electricity, natural gas, and biofuels. At the end of June 2022, TotalEnergies has a gross renewable electricity generation installed capacity of close to 12 GW. The company’s goal is to grow its business to 35 GW of gross production capacity from renewable sources and storage by 2025, and then to 100 GW by 2030.
