Wenanita Angang, the reigning Miss World Malaysia 2022, is on a mission to raise RM50,000 for two charity organizations that support autistic children in Malaysia, reported Borneo Post.

The National Autism Society of Malaysia and Early Autism Project Malaysia will benefit from her fundraising efforts, which started on February 14, 2023, and will end on May 8, 2023. This initiative aligns with the 50th Anniversary of Beauty with a Purpose, a commemorative project by Miss World.

Wenanita, a 26-year-old data scientist from Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, will compete in the Miss World 2023 pageant in the United Arab Emirates in May. She aims to contribute the raised funds as scholarships for autistic children. To achieve this, she is seeking everyone’s support.

Wenanita is no stranger to the pageant world. She has represented Malaysia twice, first in Miss Planet in Georgia in 2016 and later in Miss Tourism and Culture Universe in Myanmar in 2019. She also participated in the Busak Mosongon (Unduk Ngadau) in Kuala Penyu, her father’s hometown. Her mother, who had represented Sabah in Miss Tourism Malaysia years ago, significantly influenced Wenanita’s decision to join beauty pageants.

However, Wenanita believes that pageants should not only focus on physical beauty but should empower women to speak up for women’s causes. She sees them as a platform for women’s empowerment. She prepares for the Miss World 2023 pageant by dedicating time to her current project, Beauty with a Purpose, and preparing for various segments, such as top models, top designers, and talent.

During her visit to Sarawak, Wenanita promoted the Rajah’s movie as one of its special guests and modelled for a fashion show in tHe Spring. Despite her busy schedule, she balances her time and prioritises different segments. She plans to present the Sabahan cultural dance during the Miss World 2023 pageant.

Wenanita’s family has a strong connection to the beauty industry, and she embraces her uniqueness, staying true to herself. In conclusion, Wenanita is a beauty pageant enthusiast with a purpose, and her fundraising efforts demonstrate her commitment to the cause of empowering autistic children in Malaysia.
