1000 underprivileged people and 30 welfare homes will be first in line to benefit when a statewide welfare program is launched by Selangor Justice of Peace Council (JPC) next month.
During the launch of the statewide program at the Sunway Convention Centre on October 5, every welfare home will be given RM5000 each.
The launch, which will be officiated by the Sultan of Selangor, will also witness 700 orphans receive RM300 each, while 300 single mothers, disabled, elderly and hardcore poor will receive RM200 each.
JPC president Mahamad Fathil Mahmood said the program is focusing on people from rural areas of Selangor by providing them with free clinical services, vocational trainings and scholarships.
“This is to help them to become the part and parcel of mainstream development,” he said.
The program will focus on providing trainings to boost the social strength of an individual or a family; apart from offering immediate or emergency assistances.
Fathil said, as an example, that children who would like to study would be arranged to attend full board schools whereas those who prefer starting up own businesses will be furnished with adequate trainings.
He said the program will apply an integrated approach with volunteer doctors, syariah lawyers and social scientists all participating to effectively uplift the underprivileged groups.
“We have 10 doctors now on board together with final year medical students from UiTM to help us implement the mobile clinic service every weekend,” Fathil said.
Meanwhile, five training centres have also been setup at districts of Petaling, Klang, Hulu Selangor, Gombak and Sentul and Wilayah Persekutuan.

Justice of Peace members are appointed by the Sultan of Selangor in acknowledgement to their credibility and honesty in serving the community.
JPC currently has 200 registered members although there are 400 Justice of Peace individuals appointed in Selangor.
