The Subang Jaya Medical Centre (SJMC) is partnering with the Malaysian Society of Anaesthesiologists and the Ministry of Health (MoH) for the Global Surgery Initiative at Sri Aman Hospital.
This program is in conjunction with the 60th anniversary of the Malaysian Society of Anaesthesiologists and will run from March 13 to 17. The collaboration between these three organizations will benefit the people in the Southeast Sarawak cluster. MOH selected Sri Aman Hospital as the location for the initiative.
Sri Aman Hospital hosted Global Surgery Initiative for the first time, with surgeries taking place there throughout the week. The programme includes various specialists such as general surgery, plastic and reconstructive surgery, vascular surgery, and hepatobiliary surgery.
Dr Aimir Ma’rof, a surgeon, expressed his gratitude towards those involved in making this programme successful. He also thanked the employees of Sri Aman Hospital, who are always ready to accept challenges and give their best.
The surgeries performed during the programme include breast cancer surgery, carried out for the first time at the hospital with the cooperation and expertise of Breast and Endocrine surgeons from Sarawak General Hospital. The joint efforts of government and private hospitals will benefit the patients and the people of Sri Aman and the Southeast Sarawak Cluster community.
The deputy director general of health will officiate the programme’s closing ceremony at Sri Aman Hospital on Friday. The Global Surgery conference will follow at the Waterfront Hotel, Kuching, from March 19 until 21. Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, the director general of health, expressed his satisfaction with this public-private collaboration, which he described as a very encouraging initiative to bring surgical services to district hospitals in Borneo.
The Global Surgery Initiative at Sri Aman Hospital is a starting point for success in the hospital’s mission, vision, and objectives. Together, the organizations involved hope that surgery and health services throughout the country will continue to multiply for the benefit of the Malaysian community. The employees of Sri Aman Hospital are committed to accepting challenges and giving their best to achieve this goal.
