“We R Malaysia”- a national singing campaign aims to gather 100,000 Malaysians will be held by community-focused NGO Andante Resource in conjunction of upcoming Malaysia Day.
The NGO is calling for Malaysians to sing to the tune of their original composition “We R Malaysia” to celebrate the spirit of oneness and diversity from September 16 to 17.
Participants are required to capture a video or snap a photo of them singing the original composition- available for download at Adante’s website, and send it to [email protected].
They will later be issued a certificate of participation
“We are Malaysia” is an original composition comprising the national language, Bahasa Malaysia, English, Chinese, Tamil, Hindi, Kadazan-Dusun and Iban.
The variety of languages represented in the song speaks of an inclusive society that accepts and welcomes diversity, according to Andante volunteer Gabriel Ong.
He added that the the song is positioning itself to recapture the significance of Hari Malaysia and to renew its message for the future generation.
“The miracle of Malaysia is not that we are many, but that we are one. Let us press on,”
Public can also support the campaign through purchasing the “We R Malaysia” tee shirt.
