KLPAC invites families to a fun-filled weekend

The weekend before Earth Day at KLPAC will be filled with exciting events, which includes a family-friendly outdoor concert, a car-boot yard sale, and trial classes.

The Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre (KLPAC) is inviting families and art lovers to celebrate the weekend before Earth Day with a series of exciting events. The event will include a family-friendly outdoor concert, a car-boot yard sale, and trial classes.

Family-friendly tunes at Music Play Date

The highlight of the event is the return of Music Play Date on 15 and 16 April 2023 from 11.30 am to 12.30 pm. The concert, featuring KLPAC Symphonic Band musicians, is designed to be a perfect weekend outing for families, with no dress code and fixed seating. Admission is free, but donations are welcomed.

Guests are invited to bring their picnic mats and settle under the expansive banyan tree while enjoying popular tunes such as It’s a Small World and participating in interactive games and quizzes.

Families are encouraged to engage in DIY projects using household items or visit MR. D.I.Y. to create their instruments. Children can participate in musical activities and games to win exciting prizes sponsored by MR. D.I.Y., MR. TOY & MR. DOLLAR, esteemed supporters of KLPAC.

Music Play Date is a valuable initiative by KLPAC aimed at fostering community engagement and audience development.

Kabut in the Park at KLPAC

Aside from the concert, the event will also feature a car boot yard sale. Kabut in the Park is back at KLPAC with a whole year’s worth of dates beginning on 15 April 2023, from 9 am to 2 pm, perfectly timed to coincide with KLPAC’s free outdoor concert Music Play Date on Saturday.

The yard sale is a year-round fixture that features 40 vendors selling almost anything under the sun, from electronics to books, clothing to children’s items, and vintage collectables to plants. During these tough times, a little heart goes a long way – look out for the free bins with a selection of free items.

According to founder Evangeline Lim, Kabut is a no-frills yard sale that will whet the appetite of any self-respecting KonMari Warrior. With no hefty vendor fees and requirements, Kabut in the Park was created to cater to non-retail owners – just regular people – who want to give a second life to their pre-loved items while benefiting others and reducing waste. A portion of Vendor fees also goes to help sustain the Arts.

KLPAC is once again partnering with Khon Thai Events to offer mouth-watering Thai delicacies like Som Tam, mango or jackfruit sticky rice, Hat Yai fried chicken, as well as other local snacks. The food is created with Earth in mind, as all F&B sold is packaging-free. Visitors are reminded to BYOC (Bring Your Own Cups, Cutleries, Containers, Carrier bags, and Camping gear).
