The Penang state government has set a new target of 10,000 entries for the upcoming LovePENANG Run 2023 to accommodate more participants who want to take part in the fun run activity.

The Chief Minister, Chow Kon Yeow, announced that the program had already registered 7,100 entries as of May 2nd, which is well above the initial target of 5,000 entries.

“The public should take this opportunity to foster a close relationship with each other and take part in the leisure programme which promotes a healthy lifestyle,” he said during a media conference at Komtar.

The LovePENANG Run, which promotes a healthy lifestyle and social bonding, is one of Penang’s most significant annual events. The programme is open to people of all ages and fitness levels, and participants will have the opportunity to engage in a 5km fun run that takes them through Vision Park in Kepala Batas on May 14th, 2023.

“The participants will also be receiving a goodie bag each,” said Penang Youth and Sports Committee chairman Soon Lip Chee.

Besides the state’s government officials, other notable figures present at the media conference were DSP S. Mogan from the Penang police contingent, Penang Youth and Sports Department director Mozakir Buyong Mokhtar, Penang Youth Development Corporation (PYDC) general manager Dr Gwee Sai Ling, Penang Women’s Development Corporation (PWDC) chief executive officer Ong Bee Leng, Penang Forward Sports Club chairman Lim Choo Hooi, and other sponsors.

The registration fee for the LovePENANG Run is RM15 per person, and the deadline for registration is May 7th or when the 10,000 mark is reached.

Last year’s LovePENANG Run saw the participation of 10,000 people from 26 different countries who enjoyed a 5km fun run that took them around the George Town heritage enclave. The LovePENANG Run 2023 promises to be an even more exciting event, and participants will undoubtedly have a great time while promoting a healthy lifestyle and social bonding.
