The announcement of the new route was made by key officials including Yeoh Soon Hin, Penang State EXCO for Tourism and Creative Economy (PETACE); Ooi Chok Yan, CEO of Penang Global Tourism (PGT); and Kenneth Tan, Director of Government Relations (Northern Region) at AirAsia.

Yeoh Soon Hin expressed confidence that the addition of three weekly flights from Hong Kong will reinforce Penang’s status as a top tourist destination in Malaysia and contribute significantly to the island’s overall appeal.
