Sekolah Kebangsaan Seri Permai, located in Bayan Baru, Penang, has secured a spot in the top 10 shortlist for the World’s Best School Prize in the Innovation category.

The school’s students showcased their ingenuity by developing the Smart and Easy desk (SnET) 2.0. This innovative desk features lockable compartments that significantly reduce the weight of school bags, alleviating the burden on students.

With this invention, bag weights dropped from 10kg to just 2.5kg, promoting a healthier and more comfortable learning environment.

SK Kanchong Darat – Supporting healthy lives in rural communities

SK Kanchong Darat, situated in Banting, Selangor, has been recognized in the top 10 shortlist for the World’s Best School Prize in the Supporting Healthy Lives category.

The school implemented the “Great Mind, Healthy Citizens” program to address the decline in student attendance following the pandemic. The program focused on enhancing physical and emotional health while encouraging regular attendance.

By engaging in jump rope competitions during recess time, the school successfully attracted students back to the campus. The initiative not only improved attendance rates but also enhanced student well-being and academic performance.
