The Subang Jaya Art Competition will be held at Subang Avenue on July 18 to celebrate the creative talent of Subang Jaya’s juniors.

The Subang Jaya Art Competition will be held at Subang Avenue on July 18 to celebrate the creative talent of Subang Jaya’s juniors.

Themed “Cultures of Malaysia”, the contest will kick off on the ground floor, Subang Avenue at 12pm.

Children aged between five to six are eligible to take up the category A colouring contest, while those aged from 7 to 17 will be divided into three categories to showcase their drawing talents.

There are also categories for special kids aged between 7-15 and foreign students.

Speaking at the press conference today, Rukun Tetangga USJ 2/6 chairman Ang How Chuan said the annual event for Subang Jaya residents aims to instill creativity and emotional intelligence among the children.

“Last year we have our top winners’ paintings sent to Japan and 13 of them successfully won the Pentel International Art Contest.”

Also present was the Subang assemblyperson, Hannah Yeoh, who described the event as an important platform for children to express themselves.

“On the behalf of the state government we will also donate RM4000 to help out some of the expenses,”

A total prize of RM10,000 will be awarded to the best 13 paintings of each category while ten consolidation prize will be given too.

Entry forms are available at Petronas USJ2, USJ6, USJ9 and Subang Avenue.

The contest, listed in the Malaysia Book of Records for the most participants, is an annual “community to community” event organised by the Rukun Tetangga USJ 2/6 and sponsored by Nestle, Petronas and Pentel.
