MyTOWN Shopping Centre in Kuala Lumpur has embarked on an exciting project to repurpose its old project office into an international educational centre. The transformation will be carried out in collaboration with Ideas Academy, a private primary and secondary school certified by IGCSE.
The institution, known for its partnership with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNCHR), aims to make education more accessible to less privileged and refugee children in Malaysia.
The MyTOWNKL campus of Ideas Academy is set to open its doors in early 2024, offering an array of modern facilities to foster a holistic learning environment.
Transformation of the old project office
MyTOWN Shopping Centre, in partnership with Boustead Ikano Sdn Bhd (BISB) and Ikano Centres, has committed over RM 5,000,000 to revitalize the existing building into an educational institution.
The four-storey building, spanning over 22,000 sqft, will undergo refurbishment to accommodate the needs of Ideas Academy. The goal is to create a modern learning space equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and equipment.
The revamped campus will provide a healthy and balanced environment for over 650 students, offering facilities such as skate ramps, multipurpose courts, green spaces, and break rooms.
MyTOWNKL’s vision for an integrated community hub
Mohd Azhan Che Mat, MyTOWNKL General Manager, expressed his enthusiasm for the transformation project. He sees it as a perfect fit for the shopping centre’s strategy of offering a diverse range of experiences.

Stephanie van Aken, Head of Operations at Ideas Academy, emphasized the strategic expansion plans of the academy. The establishment of their campus at MyTOWNKL enables them to offer IGCSE certified learning programmes to a wider student population within the Klang Valley vicinity.
