Batik Air expands with Auckland-Kuala Lumpur Route

Batik Air, formerly known as Malindo Air, is embarking on further expansion in the Australasia region by introducing a new route connecting Auckland (AKL) and Kuala Lumpur (KUL), Malaysia.

The service, operating six times weekly via Perth (PER), Australia, is scheduled to commence on 25 August 2023.

Broadening footprint in Australasia

Batik Air’s launch of the Auckland-Kuala Lumpur route signifies a pivotal stride in the airline’s ongoing endeavour to extend its presence across the Asia Pacific and global markets. The introduction of this new route capitalizes on the strategic significance of Auckland as the gateway to New Zealand.

New Zealanders are set to benefit from this service, enjoying convenient connections via Perth to Bali (DPS), a renowned island paradise. The seamless connectivity extends further, encompassing various Indonesian destinations and beyond, linking Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) hub to Indian Subcontinent, North Asia, and ASEAN countries.

Datuk Chandran Rama Muthy, Group Strategy Director of Batik Air and Lion Group, highlighted the aviation industry’s burgeoning growth, particularly in the Australia-New Zealand regions. This development aligns with the airline’s mission to offer seamless travel options across their expanding network, including the alluring Lion Air Group.

Chandran emphasized the holistic travel experience facilitated by the Auckland-Kuala Lumpur route. It will not only offer non-stop flights to Perth, a hub of exciting holiday attractions, but also immediate connections to Bali. The idyllic charm of Bali, a blend of excitement and tranquillity, becomes easily accessible to New Zealanders.

Moreover, the Auckland-Kuala Lumpur route underlines Batik Air’s commitment to enhancing services for New Zealanders, enabling them to explore Malaysia’s captivating destinations such as Penang, Langkawi, Kuching, and Kota Kinabalu.

Chandran also highlighted the significance of this expansion, saying, “We have achieved a significant milestone with the Kuala Lumpur-Auckland route, strengthening our foothold in the Australasia market. We anticipate that tourists from New Zealand will utilize our competitive fares and dedicated services to discover Malaysia and beyond, connecting to the array of enticing locations we serve.”

Batik Air’s promotional fare offerings on the AKL-KUL route, inclusive of 20kgs baggage allowance for Economy Class and 40kgs for Business Class, make the journey even more appealing. The airline’s commitment to a seamless travel experience coupled with the modern Boeing 737-8 aircraft ensures passengers enjoy comfort and convenience.
