After a three-year hiatus, Carlsberg Malaysia proudly announces the return of the iconic ‘Top Ten Charity Campaign’ (Top Ten), with a renewed mission focusing on quality education and climate action in alignment with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDG).
The campaign strives for inclusivity and sustainability, expanding its reach to East Malaysia and working in collaboration with 10 vernacular schools.
Carlsberg raising funds for education
The ‘Brewing For a Better Today & Tomorrow‘ campaign aims to raise awareness about climate change and support educational institutions.
Collaborating with the 10 chosen schools, Top Ten sponsors charity road shows and has already raised RM10.66 million towards its RM15 million target over three months.
Top Ten’s history dates back to 1987, with a mission to enhance vernacular education in Malaysia. In the past 33 years, the initiative has raised an impressive RM547 million, benefiting 674 schools nationwide.
Carlsberg Malaysia’s Corporate Affairs and Sustainability Director Pearl Lai said, “The return of our
flagship community campaign marks a significant milestone in our journey towards community
empowerment and sustainability.
I am most excited to support and extend our support to schools in Sabah, benefiting a diverse range of students. Moving forward, Top Ten remains committed to enhancing the educational landscape in support of the Malaysia Madani vision.”
Sustainability and climate action
In its dedication to sustainability, Carlsberg Malaysia partners with Zero Waste Malaysia (ZWM), the nation’s largest environmental community.
This partnership emphasises the UNSDG 13: Climate Action and focuses on raising awareness about sustainability among the youth.
ZWM will conduct climate change and waste segregation talks at the beneficiary schools, equipping the next generation with knowledge to create a greener and more sustainable world.
Stefano Clini, Managing Director of Carlsberg Malaysia, underlines the significance of instilling sustainability habits early in education to combat climate change.
“At Carlsberg Malaysia, we pledged to deliver net zero carbon emissions throughout our value chain
by 2040. We believe that education on climate change should start young to inculcate the mindset
and habits of sustainability,” said Stefano Clini, Managing Director of Carlsberg Malaysia.
Carlsberg Malaysia’s revival of the ‘Top Ten Charity Campaign’ marks a milestone in their journey towards community empowerment and sustainability.
The initiative’s extension to schools in Sabah demonstrates its commitment to enriching the educational landscape and supporting a diverse range of students.
Carlsberg Malaysia remains dedicated to its ambition of driving positive change in vernacular education, aligning with their ‘Together Towards ZERO and Beyond’ agenda and Malaysia’s goal of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.
