Flydubai, Tourism Malaysia, and LADA recently convened in virtual meetings to accelerate promotional activities for the imminent launch of daily flights from Dubai to Langkawi, set to commence on February 10, 2024.
The collaborative efforts aim to ensure a seamless inaugural flight experience and include joint initiatives such as media and travel agency FAM trips, along with promotional activities to attract global travellers.
Position Langkawi prominently
The virtual meetings focused on the meticulous planning of welcome receptions for the inaugural flight on the Dubai-Penang-Langkawi route. Additionally, Flydubai, Tourism Malaysia, and Lada Development Authority are working together to organise media and travel agency familiarization trips, along with joint promotional campaigns.
These initiatives are designed to position Langkawi prominently on the travel map for Dubai residents and attract tourists from the Middle East, Africa, Asia, and Europe.
Flydubai’s daily service is strategically scheduled to commence on February 10, 2024, originating from Dubai, making brief stops at Penang International Airport (PEN), and culminating at Langkawi International Airport (LGK).
The new service marks Flydubai as the first airline to operate direct flights from the UAE to the popular Malaysian destinations of Langkawi and Penang.
Expanding flydubai footprint in Southeast Asia
Flydubai’s Chief Executive Officer, Ghaith Al Ghaith, expressed enthusiasm about the airline’s expanding presence in Southeast Asia with the addition of Langkawi and Penang to its destination portfolio.
Recognising the significance of flights to these holiday destinations for tourism and business connectivity, Al Ghaith highlighted the cultural diversity, leisure activities, and investment opportunities offered by these Malaysian destinations.
The flights are anticipated to attract passengers not only from the UAE but also from the GCC and European markets. Flydubai will deploy its Boeing 737 MAX aircraft on the Langkawi and Penang routes, featuring lie-flat seats in business class and a comfortable travel experience in economy class.
The launch of daily flights to Langkawi and Penang underscores Flydubai’s commitment to expanding its footprint in Southeast Asia, with a total of four destinations in the region, including Krabi and Pattaya in Thailand.
The Langkawi launch marks another milestone in Flydubai’s network expansion following the recent introduction of services to Cairo, Poznan, and the upcoming addition of Mombasa.
