The Ipoh City Council (MBI) announces a digital transformation in its billing system, discontinuing physical bills from the July to December assessment period.
Mayor Datuk Rumaizi Baharin highlights the transition to the DMBI app, allowing residents to register, check, and pay assessment taxes online.
The move aims to enhance convenience, safety, and efficiency, aligning with the government’s directive for technological advancement in public services.
Seamless transition to digital billing
Mayor Rumaizi emphasises the speed and security of online transactions through the DMBI app, providing users with notifications for new bills.
Customers visiting payment counters receive detailed explanations of the digital billing process. Developed in January 2023, the app aligns with the government’s mandate, offering accessibility for users to handle assessment tax matters anytime, anywhere.
The Mayor notes a significant increase in collections, with RM136,493 recorded on the app from January to October, surpassing the RM123,133 through conventional methods for the entire 2022.
Incentives and prizes for residents
In a bid to encourage digital adoption, MBI introduces incentives and prizes. A 2024 lucky draw awaits customers who settle annual assessment taxes through any payment method, with prizes worth RM99,000.
Notable rewards include a Perodua Axia car, motorcycles, a 65-inch Smart TV, and various household appliances. Additionally, a monthly lucky draw for November and December 2023 offers RM9,000 to 20 winners.
Early bird customers stand to benefit from rebates of up to RM5, with the first 20,000 fully settling their annual assessment tax for 2024 eligible for this incentive, subject to terms and conditions.
The city anticipates continued success in revenue collection and increased efficiency, creating a model for other communities.
As Ipoh pioneers this transformation, residents are encouraged to explore the benefits and participate in the upcoming lucky draws and incentives for a more engaging community experience.
