The highly acclaimed Cabaret Series, “Golden Melody,” is set to dazzle audiences once again with its fourth edition of Cantopop classics, scheduled from 7 to 10 December 2023 at klpac’s Pentas 1.
A joint production by klpac and The Actors Studio Seni Teater Rakyat, this Cantopop extravaganza has been a beloved staple in Kuala Lumpur since 2020, earning acclaim for its nostalgic renditions of hits by Hong Kong superstars.
Notably, the third edition secured the Best Musical Direction accolade at the 18th BOH Cameronian Arts Awards, solidifying its status as a musical phenomenon.
Cantopop classics unleashed in Golden Melody 4
Golden Melody 4 promises an unmissable showcase of iconic Cantopop hits, bringing to life the musical treasures of Hong Kong cinema’s golden era. The repertoire includes memorable tunes from action-packed thrillers such as “Police Story” and the suspenseful “Infernal Affairs,” to classic comedies like “Aces Go Places.”
The musical journey extends to timeless pieces from “Triumph in the Skies” and the nostalgic “I Have a Date with Spring,” originally performed by legends like Sam Hui, Alan Tam, Eason Chan, Maria Cordero, Hacken Lee, Anita Mui, Leslie Cheung, and more.
Notably, the lineup also features the music biopic of the hit ’70s band The Wynners, titled “House of the Rising Sons,” and the captivating “Beyond’s Diary.”
Directed by Ian Chow, this edition boasts a stellar cast, including Andrew Lim, Dickson Chai, Jacqueline Teng, MayJune Tan, Ruby Yap, Tan Li Yang, Toh Shir Ling, accompanied by percussionist Alex Lee, bassist Timothy Voo, and electric guitarist Daniel Lee.
