AirAsia has unveiled its latest venture, introducing a new route to Thiruvandrum, Kerala, marking the airline’s second direct connection to ‘God’s Own Country’ after Kochi.

Scheduled to commence on 21 February 2024 with four flights weekly, this expansion reflects AirAsia’s commitment to providing enhanced travel options for passengers.

Thiruvananthapuram, known for its architectural marvels and traditional cuisine, is expected to draw a remarkable response from diverse travellers eager to explore the city’s unique charm.

AirAsia, a key player in connecting Malaysia and India since 2008, continues its growth in the Indian market with the launch of the Thiruvananthapuram route.

CEO of AirAsia Malaysia, Riad Asmat, expressed enthusiasm about strengthening their presence in India, highlighting the historical richness of Thiruvananthapuram.

The new route represents AirAsia’s 9th connection to India from Malaysia, with a total of 71 weekly flights to various destinations, catering to the diverse travel needs of passengers.

“Undoubtedly, India is one of AirAsia’s most popular destinations for Malaysian travellers. We hold a market share of 47% of the international air connectivity between the two nations.

“Over the last decade and a half, we’ve drastically transformed the travel landscape in India and connected many millions of travellers to Malaysia and beyond affordably,” said Riad.

Over the last decade and a half, the airline has played a pivotal role in transforming the travel landscape in India, making it one of the most popular destinations for Malaysian travellers.

The announcement comes as AirAsia celebrates a milestone of flying 800 million guests since its inception in 2001.

To commemorate this achievement and promote the new route, the airline is offering attractive fares starting at RM199 all-inclusive, with free 20kg check-in baggage.

The promotional offer is valid for bookings made between today and 26 November 2024, for travel from 21 February 2024 to 26 October 2024.
