MITEC triumphs as World’s Leading Meetings Centre

Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) has clinched the esteemed title of World’s Leading Meetings and Conference Centre 2023 at the recent World Travel Awards (WTA) Grand Final Gala Ceremony in Dubai.

The award ceremony saw MITEC surpass 18 prominent contenders in the global business events industry, including previous winners such as Las Vegas Convention Centre and ExCeL London.

This recognition positions MITEC as the first Malaysian purpose-built venue to secure a WTA World Award since its establishment in 1993.

MITEC’s global triumph

MITEC’s success at the WTA Grand Final Gala Ceremony 2023 is a testament to its global standing in the meetings and conference industry.

Head of Marketing & Sales, Cemone Chua, and Senior Food & Beverage Manager Mohan Vasanthathevan accepted the prestigious award on behalf of MITEC.

The centre’s victory against industry giants, including past WTA winners like Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre and The Convention Centre Dublin, highlights MITEC’s excellence and contribution to the international business events landscape.

Marking a historic achievement for Malaysia, MITEC is the country’s only purpose-built venue for meetings, conferences, exhibitions, and lifestyle events to secure a WTA World Award.

Impressive facilities and busiest year at MITEC

With a sprawling 52,000 sqm of exhibition and convention space, MITEC stands as the largest trade and exhibition centre in Malaysia.

The year 2023 has been particularly notable for MITEC, emerging as its busiest since reopening post-Covid-19.

The centre hosted over 160 events, attracting more than 3 million participants. MITEC’s impressive facilities have not only positioned it as a global hub but have also contributed significantly to Malaysia’s economic landscape.

MITEC’s contribution extends beyond hosting events, with an estimated RM1 billion economic impact on Malaysia since its inauguration in 2017.
