Muzium Telekom is undergoing a transformative journey with the launch of IMMERSIO 2023, a celebration of arts, culture, heritage, and innovation.

This fifth edition promises an immersive experience, bringing together over 20 new media artists and cultural maestros to create a digital wonderland within the museum’s 27,000 square-foot space.

Open to the public from today until 7 January 2024, IMMERSIO 2023 marks a significant chapter in the museum’s legacy.

Curated by Filamen and powered by Yayasan Telekom Malaysia (Yayasan TM), IMMERSIO 2023 explores the theme “Waris” (Inherited).

This edition delves into the rich tapestry of Southeast Asian heritage, offering a contemporary perspective on bygone eras, cultural identities, enduring traditions, shared values, and personal stories.

Abdul Shakir “Grasshopper,” Curator of IMMERSIO 2023, expressed excitement about the dynamic line-up, stating, “This year’s distinctive challenge revolves around the transformation of a familiar venue into an immersive, serendipitous maze of experiences.”

IMMERSIO 2023 boasts a diverse ensemble of well-established and emerging artists, including imaginative minds from the Malaysia Multimedia University (MMU).

Artists such as Chong Yan Chuah, UnrealityKai x Izealist, Aw-kult, Anwar Suhaimi, Suzy Sulaiman, Filamen, James Ly, Ammar Hazman, Roger Ng Wei Lun, Duta Adipati, and Haura Khalisa contribute to a vibrant canvas of digital artworks and installations.

Among the highlights are an illuminating doughnut-shaped installation by UnrealityKai x Izealist, an engaging spectacle of projection mapping and light art by Aw-kult, and digital artworks by Anwar Suhaimi exploring Malaysian cultures and ethnicities.

Yayasan TM, the strategic partner through the Digital Technology Incubation Programme, plays a pivotal role in supporting the arts ecosystem.

Ainol Shaharina Sahar, the Director of Yayasan TM, stated, “The theme for IMMERSIO 2023, Waris, resonates deeply with us, empowering the current generation to embrace innovation while remaining true to their roots and identity.”

The Digital Technology Incubation Programme, initiated by Yayasan TM, supports local digital artists and emerging talents through grants, funds, capacity-building workshops, and exhibition space.

IMMERSIO 2023 stands as a testament to the transformative impact of blending arts with technology, offering a sensorial-charged realm for audiences to experience and depart with inspiration.
