Public consultation and regulatory compliance
To ensure community engagement and gather valuable insights, the Land Public Transport Agency (Apad) is conducting a public consultation on the proposed tram system.
Loke highlighted the significance of this step in the approval process, stating, “The consultation was an important step to take before approval of the tramway scheme is granted.”
While underscoring the importance of adherence to existing regulations and procedures, Loke expressed the ministry’s commitment to supporting Metro Trem Sdn Bhd in developing the new transport system in Melaka.
The public has the opportunity to inspect project documents at Apad’s headquarters, Plaza Melaka Sentral, or on the company’s website until March 5, 2024.
Melaka’s tram system represents a forward-thinking approach to address transportation challenges, offering an eco-friendly alternative for tourists exploring this UNESCO World Heritage City.
As the public consultation progresses, the city anticipates not only a reduction in traffic congestion but also an enhancement of the overall tourist experience.
