Malaysia Airlines and Firefly launch special fixed fares

Malaysia Airlines and Firefly have unveiled special fixed fares, following Transport Ministry‘s recent announcement, offering travellers affordable options for one-way economy flights departing from Kuala Lumpur and Penang to East Malaysia.

This initiative, effective from January 1, 2024, is aligned with the government’s subsidy programme for festive periods, covering major celebrations such as Chinese New Year, Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Hari Kaamatan, and Gawai.

Special fixed fares for festive season travel

Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG), in a statement, highlighted that the capped fares apply to journeys originating from Kuala Lumpur to various destinations, including Kota Kinabalu, Tawau, Sandakan, Labuan, Kuching, Miri, Sibu, and Bintulu via Malaysia Airlines.

Similarly, Firefly offers capped fares for flights from Penang to Kota Kinabalu and Kuching. These special fares are applicable for travel commencing three days before the festive date.

Dersenish Aresandiran, CCO of airlines at Malaysia Aviation Group, expressed the group’s commitment to supporting the government’s efforts in subsidising airfares, making it more accessible for travellers to reunite with their loved ones during festive seasons.

Aresandiran stated, “In line with this commitment, we will persist in striving to provide a superior travel experience tailored to meet the needs and preferences of our passengers on their journey back home.”

The fixed-priced tickets are applicable from two airports, with selected destinations from each airport for travel dates three days before specified festive dates:

Malaysia Airlines and Firefly new year promotions

In addition to the special fixed fares for festive travel, both Malaysia Airlines and Firefly are launching enticing New Year promotions.

From January 9 to 22, travellers can seize the opportunity to book domestic flights with fares starting from RM79. International travel promotions are equally compelling, with fares as low as RM219, available for booking between January 9 and November 30.

Firefly, not to be outdone, is offering a special promotion starting from RM69 for travel from January 9 to June 30, 2024. This promotion is valid on all routes, including those operated by its Boeing 737-800 aircraft. To sweeten the deal, Firefly is also providing an additional 10% bonus Enrich Points during the promotional period.

Malaysia Airlines is joining the New Year festivities by offering fares starting from just RM79 for domestic destinations and from RM219 for international destinations. These attractive fares are valid for travel from January 9 to November 30, 2024.
