The airline emphasised that the decision to elevate the flight frequency is timely and signifies a significant milestone in the recovery of the tourism sector for both Indonesia and Malaysia.

The Jakarta-Kuching route, operated by AirAsia Indonesia, was initially launched on June 15 last year. Now, with the shift to daily flights, AirAsia aims to provide more convenient travel options to passengers at affordable fares.

“The increase in frequency for Jakarta-Kuching flights is a significant step in strengthening ties between the two regions and facilitating tourism growth.

AirAsia sees the enhanced connectivity between Jakarta and Kuching as a precursor to broader links between Sarawak and other parts of Indonesia.

Particularly, the airline highlighted the potential impact of the Jakarta-Kuching connection in light of Indonesia’s new administrative capital, Nusantara, located in East Kalimantan.

“The Kuching-Jakarta connection is a precursor to wider connectivity from Sarawak to other parts of Indonesia, especially with the establishment of the country’s new administrative capital, Nusantara, in East Kalimantan,” AirAsia stated.

This suggests that the increased flight frequency not only serves immediate travel needs but also positions the route strategically for future developments in regional connectivity.

Seats for the expanded Jakarta-Kuching flights are available for booking now, offering affordable fares for immediate travel.

The statement mentioned prices as low as 689,000 rupiah all-in for flights departing Jakarta and RM149 from Kuching. Since its launch in June last year, the Jakarta-Kuching route has proven popular among travellers from both cities.

“The route has been successful in bringing the two regions closer together and opening doors to opportunities for tourism, trade, and mutual growth,” AirAsia stated.

The increased frequency is poised to further enhance travel convenience, fostering economic and cultural exchanges between Jakarta and Kuching.

Passengers are encouraged to utilise the AirAsia Superapp and the airasia website for booking, ensuring a seamless and affordable travel experience.
