Sarawak Tourism Board (STB) took part in the prestigious MATKA Nordic Fair, a prominent travel industry event held at the Messukeskus Helsinki Exhibition and Convention in Finland.

This strategic participation aimed at strengthening Sarawak’s presence in the Nordic market, fostering collaborations, and promoting the region as an appealing destination for Nordic travellers.

In collaboration with Tourism Malaysia (TM), STB engaged with industry stakeholders and potential collaborators in the Nordic region.

The partnership with TM aligns with STB’s broader strategy to position Sarawak as a premier destination for Nordic tourists seeking authentic cultural experiences, adventure, nature, culinary delights, and vibrant festivals

Sarawak’s robust efforts in the Nordic market have shown promising results, with a remarkable 145% growth in visitor arrivals from the region in 2023 compared to the previous year.

With a focus on innovative and bold marketing strategies in 2024, Sarawak aspires to further enhance its appeal and attract a growing number of Nordic travellers.

Immersive experiences & eco-conscious travel

Visitors to Sarawak’s booth at MATKA 2024 were treated to captivating cultural dance performances accompanied by traditional ethnic musical instruments like the Sape and the nose flute.

The booth also featured a tree bark art demonstration, showcasing Sarawak’s rich cultural heritage, art, and musical traditions.

These immersive experiences aimed to provide a glimpse into the diverse offerings that Sarawak has for potential travellers.
