The Melaka government, led by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh, is making adjustments to the conditions of participation in the lucky draw programme for Visit Melaka Year 2024 (TMM2024).

This strategic move aims to expand participation, extending the opportunity beyond tourists to include residents of the state.

Chief Minister Ab Rauf Yusoh highlighted the focus on inclusivity in the lucky draw programme, stating, “The new terms and conditions were aimed at ensuring more participants and not only tourists but people of the state can also participate in the lucky draw programme that offers cars as the main prizes.”

The government envisions a more widespread engagement that involves both visitors and locals in the exciting TMM2024 festivities.

He further explained that the lucky draw boasts eight main prizes, cars sponsored by various parties, with expectations of this number growing during the TMM2024 duration.

The initiative to re-examine participation conditions is a response to the evolving nature of the event, ensuring broader accessibility for individuals keen on taking part.

Reflecting on the modifications, Ab Rauf addressed the initial conditions, stating, “If previously among the conditions of participating in the lucky draw was that tourists must stay at least two nights at four-star hotels or above who are involved in the programme, we are now re-examining these conditions.”

The forthcoming announcement of updated participation conditions aligns with the government’s commitment to promoting TMM2024.

The Chief Minister made these statements during the TMM2024 Lucky Draw Prize Sponsorship Ceremony, attended by State Tourism, Heritage, Arts, and Culture Committee chairman Datuk Abdul Razak Abdul Rahman.

The event showcased the government’s dedication to enhancing participation and engagement in TMM2024, making it an inclusive and memorable experience for all.

Ab Rauf shared positive statistics indicating the increasing success of TMM2024. He noted a significant surge in the number of vehicles entering Melaka, doubling to approximately 60,000 vehicles per day each weekend, starting Fridays.

This notable increase stands in contrast to the earlier count of 30,000 vehicles per day at the beginning of the year, highlighting the growing popularity and impact of the Visit Melaka Year 2024 initiatives.

This surge underscores the positive impact of TMM2024 initiatives, with the lucky draw programme playing a crucial role in drawing visitors.

He also expressed confidence that the target of 18.7 million visitors, both from within and outside Melaka, can be achieved through strategic initiatives like the lucky draw programme.

He emphasised the importance of engaging various segments of the community to achieve the broad-reaching success of TMM2024.

During the ceremony, the state government received generous donations, including a BYD Dolphin electric car worth RM99,900 from Scientex Heights Sdn Bhd and a Proton X50 1.5T worth RM86,000 from Amerivexx International Sdn Bhd, contributing to the attractive array of prizes for the lucky draw.

The adjustments to the lucky draw programme underscore Melaka’s commitment to making TMM2024 an inclusive and engaging event for residents and visitors alike.
