During the Chinese New Year period, the airline will boost its services by upgrading 12 aircraft to serve routes connecting Kuala Lumpur International Airport Terminal 1 (KUL) to Kota Kinabalu (BKI), Kuching (KCH), and Penang (PEN).

The upgraded flights will be operated using Airbus A330-200 and A330-300 aircraft, ensuring a comfortable travel experience for passengers.

In a recent development, sister airline Firefly successfully operated its inaugural international flight to Tawau in the east coast Sabah district. The charter flight, carrying 157 passengers from Nanjing, China, arrived in Tawau on January 23, 2024.

Firefly will continue to operate these chartered flights three times weekly, scheduled to land in Tawau every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, with a weekly capacity of 540 seats until the end of March 2024.

Aresandiran further stated the airline’s commitment to supporting national goals, saying, “This reinforces our commitment to supporting the goals of Visit Malaysia Year 2026 (VMY2026) and extends to positioning KUL as a hub for Asia and beyond, leveraging our role as the national carrier to position Malaysia as a true ASEAN tourism and aviation hub.”

Moreover, Malaysia Airlines is encouraging sports enthusiasts to explore its new product, MHsports offering, specifically designed for groups of five or more individuals travelling for sporting purposes.

The package includes special fares, an extra 10kg baggage allowance, flexible date and time changes, and the convenience of extending the journey with a flexible return date.

Customers opting for MHsports can enjoy additional benefits such as the flexibility to change travellers up to 24 hours before departure, complimentary pre-selected seating, and advance check-in.
