The Sarawak Federation of Chinese Associations has been granted the honour of organizing the ‘National Chinese Cultural Festival’ for the current year, following the successful hosting of the event in Sabah last year.

Dato Richard Wee, President of The Federation of Chinese Association Kuching, Samarahan & Serian Division, expressed his enthusiasm for Sarawak’s role as the festival’s host, with his association collaborating as the co-organiser.

Highlighting the broader mission of The Federation of Chinese Associations, Wee stated, “The activities we organize are always open to friends from other ethnicities.

We believe that through interaction and understanding between communities, we can preserve cultural diversity, stability, and prosperity in the multicultural society of Sarawak.”

The festival promises an array of events scheduled to unfold across various regions of Sarawak, starting from June and kickstarting from Limbang.

Dato Richard Wee elucidated, “Starting in June, several events will be held in all regions of Sarawak, with Limbang and Kuching being the primary locations for the festival’s grand closing ceremony around September.”

Dato Richard Wee made these announcements during the Media Appreciation Ceremony of The Federation of Chinese Association Kuching, Samarahan & Serian Division held in Kuching last Saturday.

The event was inaugurated by Datuk Amar Profesor Dr. Sim Kui Hian, Sarawak’s Deputy Premier. Wee took the opportunity to extend an appeal to the media for their invaluable support in covering the upcoming cultural festivities.

“The role of the media is pivotal in highlighting the rich cultural tapestry of the Chinese community in Sarawak, especially during events organised by our association,” emphasised Dato Richard Wee.

He underscored the significance of media coverage in sharing the essence of the Chinese cultural events with a broader audience.

The Deputy President of The Federation of Chinese Association Kuching, Samarahan & Serian Division, Lo Siew Fung, and the Secretary-General, Lim Ah Ted, were also present at the ceremony.

The festival, spanning from June to September, promises a celebration of Chinese culture and heritage, reflecting Sarawak’s commitment to cultural diversity and harmony.
