The Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), in collaboration with various partner organizations, successfully organized the DEX Connex programme in the Philippines for 2024.

This initiative aims to support Malaysian tech companies’ growth in the Philippine market and foster collaborative relationships between high-tech firms in both countries.

The programme, held in Manila, saw the participation of 35 Malaysian high-tech companies who engaged with 50 potential partners and Chief Information Officers (CIOs) in the Philippines.

MDEC anticipates this collaborative effort to generate RM150 million in digital export prospects.

MDEC and the Philippine Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) exchanged tokens signifying their commitment to joining forces through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).

This partnership aims to accelerate the adoption of e-commerce among micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in both nations, ultimately fueling their growth and market reach.

Additionally, the collaboration will encourage innovation and competitiveness in the Digital Creative Content Industries of both countries.

The programme witnessed the signing of MOUs between several Malaysian and Philippine tech companies, formalizing long-term partnerships and facilitating the exchange of resources, products, and services.

These include core banking, digital payment solutions, AI technology, and cloud systems.

The event was graced by the presence of prominent figures from both countries, including Mahadhir Aziz, CEO of MDEC; His Excellency Dato’ Abdul Malik Melvin Castelino, Malaysian Ambassador to the Philippines; and representatives from the Philippine government, tech sector, and regional investors.

By facilitating collaborations, knowledge exchange, and MOUs, the DEX Connex programme has paved the way for stronger ties and mutual growth between the Malaysian and Philippine digital economies.
