TalentCorp closing the gap and promoting diversity

The Ministry of Human Resources (MOHR), through its agency Talent Corporation Malaysia (TalentCorp), has launched a new initiative called Wanita MyWIRA.

Human Resources Minister Steven Sim Chee Keong highlighted TalentCorp’s role in empowering the workforce, including initiatives that promote Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI).

This, he stated, is crucial in achieving the Female Labour Force Participation Rate (FLFPR) goal.

He emphasized the importance of accurate data to better understand and assist women in the workforce.

“Through Wanita MyWIRA, we aim to digitise the Career Comeback Programme, facilitate tax incentives, and build better data to advance women’s position and strengthen cross-agency cooperation within MOHR,” he said.

Wanita MyWIRA aligns with the MADANI economic framework’s goals of achieving gender equality.

It builds upon existing initiatives such as the Tax Incentive through the Career Comeback Programme, which has been extended until 2027.

Furthermore, TalentCorp offers various programmes to support working women and parents: the Women Industry Network, Flexible Work Arrangements (FWA), and work-life balance approaches.

Digitalisation and collaboration for comprehensive support

The Ministry of Human Resources (MOHR), through its agency Talent Corporation Malaysia (TalentCorp), has launched a new initiative called Wanita MyWIRA.

Thomas Mathew, TalentCorp’s CEO, reiterated the agency’s commitment to promoting women and latent talent in the MADANI Economy.

He emphasised leveraging the MyNext platform for assessment and profiling tools to create a centralised database for the female workforce.

“We will collaborate with all stakeholders, including cross-ministerial agencies, the private sector, and academia, to achieve this goal,” he stated.

The Wanita MyWIRA initiative was launched in conjunction with TalentCorp’s International Women’s Day celebration.

This includes various activities, culminating in the Women’s Career Convention on March 9th.

The convention aims to encourage participation from skilled women by offering a career carnival, featuring companies led by women and promoting FWA.

It will also provide resume writing services, job interview workshops, and sessions on the value of DEI.

TalentCorp targets over 1,000 participants from diverse backgrounds for the Women’s Career Convention.

Several leading companies, including Hiredly, Kiddocare, and British Petroleum, will participate in the event, showcasing their commitment to supporting female talent and promoting diverse work environments.

The Wanita MyWIRA initiative signifies a significant step towards empowering women and fostering a more inclusive workforce in Malaysia.

By leveraging data, collaboration, and targeted initiatives, TalentCorp aims to bridge the workforce gap and unlock the full potential of female talent.
