Columbia Asia Hospital opens in Bukit Jalil

Columbia Asia Hospital – Bukit Jalil (CAH-BKJ) officially opened its doors today, marking the 18th hospital in Malaysia for the Columbia Asia group.

This new facility brings quality healthcare closer to home for the residents of Bukit Jalil, a fast-growing community exceeding 200,000 people.

The official launch, officiated by the Deputy Director General of Health (Research & Technical Support), Datuk Dr Nor Fariza Ngah, underscores Columbia Asia’s commitment to providing convenient healthcare access in high-density areas.

Nor Fariza, representing the Minister of Health, noted the government’s appreciation for private healthcare providers like Columbia Asia expanding their reach to address growing healthcare demands.

She emphasised the complementary role of private hospitals in filling gaps while the government focuses on underserved areas.

The seven-story CAH-BKJ features 96 ward beds and caters to various medical specialties and sub-specialties. Its team consists of highly skilled and experienced professionals, dedicated to patient-centric care.

“We prioritize safety, comfort, and high-quality service while fostering constant innovation for improved health outcomes,” stated Dr. Sharonpal Singh, General Manager of CAH-BKJ.

He emphasised their goal to become the go-to healthcare provider for the community, offering everything from essential services to life-saving care.

Community engagement and future plans

CAH-BKJ continues their commitment to community well-being through initiatives like the SIHAT! Fun Run and Family Carnival held in December 2023.

This event aimed to raise health awareness, promote disease prevention, and benefit local charities.

Looking ahead, Dr. Sharonpal expressed the hospital’s intention to continue engaging the community through various healthy lifestyle initiatives, aiming to promote long-term positive health habits.

Columbia Asia’s Managing Director & Group CEO, Dr Chan Boon Kheng, highlighted the evolving hospital models, with CAH-BKJ representing a larger format offering more extensive medical services.

He announced upcoming expansions, including a new hospital in Penang and the expansion of four existing facilities.

Dr. Chan also emphasised the hospital’s focus on preventive healthcare and promoting healthy lifestyles, aligning with the government’s initiatives.

The launch event was attended by various dignitaries, healthcare professionals, and Columbia Asia representatives, marking a significant step towards expanded healthcare access and community engagement in Bukit Jalil.
