JomCharge EV chargers go live at McDonald’s locations

JomCharge teams up with McDonald’s for EV chargers at Pantai Sentral Park and Setia Alam, offering RM1/kWh promo via mobile app.

JomCharge and McDonald’s Malaysia have launched operational EV chargers at select locations in a significant move towards sustainable mobility. This initiative will provide a convenient and affordable charging solution for electric vehicle (EV) owners across the country.

The EV chargers, which were activated earlier this week, mark the culmination of a partnership between JomCharge and McDonald’s Malaysia. The initiative comes approximately two months after the installation was first spotted in Pantai Sentral Park.

The newly installed chargers are strategically located at two McDonald’s Drive-Thru branches, namely Pantai Sentral Park and Setia Alam. Interestingly, both locations feature distinct setups to cater to the evolving needs of EV users.

At Pantai Sentral Park, EV Connection, the company behind JomCharge, has deployed a single cabinet Kempower DC fast charger (DCFC) equipped with two charging connectors. This cutting-edge charger can deliver up to 100kW of power and boasts dynamic charging capability, ensuring efficient and rapid charging for EVs.

Meanwhile, the deployment at Setia Alam involves two units of ABB Terra 54 chargers, replacing the previous Khind-TGood AC chargers. Each ABB Terra 54 charger has been configured to deliver up to 50kW of energy, providing a reliable charging solution for EV owners in the area.

Limited-time promotional offer

To celebrate the launch, EV owners can now enjoy a special promotional rate of RM1 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) when utilizing the newly installed chargers at McDonald’s DT Pantai Sentral Park and Setia Alam. This limited-time offer can be accessed by activating the chargers through the JomCharge mobile app.

According to an announcement on EV Connection’s Facebook page, this partnership marks the beginning of a broader initiative to expand EV charging infrastructure across more McDonald’s locations in the near future. However, specific details regarding the deployment timeline and future locations have not been disclosed by the company.

The collaboration between JomCharge and McDonald’s Malaysia reflects a shared commitment to environmental sustainability and innovation in the transportation sector. By providing accessible and affordable charging solutions, the initiative aims to encourage the adoption of EVs and contribute to Malaysia’s transition towards a greener future.
