Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation (APU) solidified its reputation as a leader in digital technology education by securing a record-breaking haul at the prestigious Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) PDTI Outstanding Awards 2023.
APU’s School of Computing (SOC) distinguished itself as the top performer among 42 faculties/schools across 24 public and private higher education institutions specialising in digital tech education in Malaysia.
Dominant performance in main categories
SOC emerged as the top performer among all participating institutions, claiming the coveted MDEC PDTI Outstanding Faculty (University Category) Award 2023.
Furthermore, APU faculty member Jack Lai Yong Geat secured third place in the Outstanding Faculty Member category.
APU students mirrored this success by winning three out of the five awards in the Outstanding Student Category.
Nixon Cheng Yi Heng triumphed in first place, followed by Chang Shiau Huei and Loh Kae Shyan who secured second and a consolation prize respectively.
These awards recognise the exceptional talent and dedication of APU’s academic staff and student body.

Since its appointment as a Premier Digital Tech Institution (PDTI) by MDEC in 2017, APU has consistently demonstrated its commitment to nurturing a skilled workforce for the digital economy.

Throughout 2023, APU’s School of Computing solidified its position by forging partnerships with over 11 leading companies in computing, technology, and game development.

The award-winning achievements of students like Cheng Yi Heng, Chang Shiau Huei, and Loh Kae Shyan highlight APU’s focus on developing well-rounded graduates.
