BRAND’S Essence of Chicken (BRAND’S) and PLUS Malaysia Berhad (PLUS) have renewed their partnership for the “Kekal Cergas and Selamat” road safety campaign.

This initiative aims to address the concerning rise in road accidents during the Ramadan and Raya Aidilfitri period.

Traffic on the PLUS highway surges during Raya, with over two million vehicles recorded at the peak in 2023.

This increase unfortunately coincides with a rise in accidents, with PDRM reporting a 9.6% rise in crashes during the 2023 Raya period compared to the previous year.

Speeding, fatigue, and driver distraction were identified as the primary culprits.

To counter these trends, the “Kekal Cergas and Selamat” campaign emphasizes the importance of regular breaks, maintaining alertness, and re-energizing for a safe journey home.

As part of the campaign, BRAND’S will be distributing over 50,000 bottles of their Essence of Chicken at selected PLUS highway rest stops between April 4th and 17th, 2024.

Additionally, these rest stops will host interactive activities designed to stimulate travellers’ minds and encourage them to take breaks during their journeys.

“We believe every journey is not just a journey back home but a safe return to loved ones,” said Eunice Kow, Head of Marketing Health Enrichment at Suntory Beverage and Food Malaysia.

“Our campaign aims to instil a sense of responsibility in drivers for their safety and that of their passengers.”

Kow emphasized the scientific backing for BRAND’S Essence of Chicken, highlighting its ability to enhance mental focus, reduce fatigue, and re-energize drivers.

This makes it a suitable companion for long-distance travel, especially during fasting periods or before sahur meals.

The campaign highlights BRAND’S commitment to promoting responsible driving habits.

The combination of giveaways, interactive activities, and awareness messages aims to ensure Malaysians reach their Raya destinations safely and celebrate with their loved ones.

The BRAND’s and PLUS ‘Kekal Cergas and Selamat’ campaign on-ground activations will take place as follows:

1.     April 4th to 7th at R&R Tapah Northbound

2.     April 8th and 9th at R&R Seremban Northbound

3.     April 14th and 15th at R&R Ayer Keroh Southbound

4.     April 16th and 17th at R&R Sungai Buloh Northbound
