Noise Performance House announces theatre training lineup

Penang’s Noise Performance House unveils annual theatre training course featuring renowned instructors! Auditions open now.

Noise Performance House, a stalwart of Penang’s vibrant performing arts scene, is set to kick off its annual theatre training program, promising to break barriers and ignite creativity in theatre education. With a legacy spanning over 18 years, the Noise training program has been instrumental in shaping the local theatrical landscape, nurturing budding talents and fostering a love for the stage since its inception in 2007.

This year’s program, meticulously crafted to enrich participants’ theatrical journey, boasts a stellar lineup of local luminaries who will serve as instructors. From performance arts to scriptwriting, lighting, and set design, the course will offer a comprehensive exploration of the theatrical arts.

One of the highlights of this year’s curriculum is the Joe Sidek @ Production and Arts Promotion Course, helmed by the esteemed former director of the George Town Festival, Joe Sidek himself. Participants will have the unique opportunity to glean insights from Sidek’s wealth of experience in crafting exceptional proposals and promoting shows to producers and sponsors.

Renowned choreographer Aida Redza will lead the Physical Performance/Dance Course, sharing her distinctive style honed over years on both local and international stages. Her innovative approach to performance, characterized by community engagement and immersive experiences, promises to inspire and captivate aspiring performers.

Transformative journey awaits

The roster of instructors also includes celebrated figures such as Malaysian playwright Lin Jia Jia, theatre critic Tan Wei Guang, director Ong Han Yee, and producer/stage manager Cheah Kai Yong, among others. Each brings a wealth of expertise and a passion for nurturing emerging talent in the theatre scene.

Auditions for the program are scheduled for 21st April 2024 and 28th April 2024, offering aspiring performers the chance to showcase their talents and join this immersive theatrical journey. The course will run from May to August 2024, with classes held on Sundays from 9am to 5pm and Wednesdays from 7.30pm to 9pm.
