Batik Air, a Malaysian low-cost carrier, has announced the addition of Guilin, China, as its seventh route in China.
The new service, commencing June 4, 2024, offers travellers convenient access to this picturesque city known for its stunning natural beauty and rich cultural heritage.
Batik Air’s enhanced connectivity to China
Batik Air will operate three weekly flights between Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and Guilin Liangjiang International Airport (KWL) using B737-800 aircraft.
This expansion strengthens Batik Air’s presence in China, bringing their total number of destinations in the country to seven.
Passengers can now enjoy direct connections from Kuala Lumpur to major Chinese cities including Chengdu, Guangzhou, Haikou, Kunming, Zhangjiajie, and Zhengzhou, with a total of 23 weekly frequencies offered.
Datuk Chandran Rama Muthy, Chief Executive Officer of Batik Air, expressed his excitement about the new route.
“We are delighted to introduce Guilin as a new destination,” he said.
“Guilin offers a unique travel experience with its stunning scenery and cultural attractions, and we are confident that our passengers will enjoy exploring this beautiful destination.”
Guilin: A paradise for nature lovers
Nestled along the scenic Li River, Guilin is a captivating destination renowned for its iconic limestone karst formations, crystal-clear rivers, and serene lakes.
This photographer’s paradise offers a plethora of attractions for nature enthusiasts.
Visitors can explore the historical town of Daxu, marvel at the majestic Elephant Trunk Hill, or delve into the enchanting Reed Flute Cave adorned with illuminated rock formations.
For those seeking adventure, Guilin boasts an array of hiking trails, cycling routes, and rock climbing opportunities, catering to a diverse range of travellers.
Muthy further highlighted the strategic importance of the expansion, aligning with the Malaysian government’s efforts to boost tourism.
“The expansion of our routes to China aligns with our strategic response to support the implementation of the 30-day visa-free travel policy for Chinese tourists visiting Malaysia,” he explained.
“This is in line with Tourism Malaysia’s 2024 target of attracting between five to seven million Chinese tourists.
Batik Air plans to further increase flight frequencies and explore new destinations in China in the upcoming future.”
To celebrate the launch of this new route, Batik Air is offering attractive introductory fares.
Passengers can book one-way tickets starting from RM 669 for Economy class and RM 1,889 for Business class.
Additionally, pre-purchased meals and extra baggage allowance are available at discounted rates. Batik Air also offers a selection of meals and drinks available for purchase on board all flights.
