The airline confirmed the reinstatement and rescheduling of some flights while announcing cancellations on specific routes.

In a positive development, Malaysia Airlines announced the resumption of services between Kuala Lumpur and Sabah, effective May 1st, 2024.

These flights will operate with adjusted timings: MH2660D (previously MH2660) departing Kuala Lumpur for Tawau and MH2661D (previously MH2661) returning from Tawau to Kuala Lumpur.

Additionally, the airline plans to adjust the timings of flights MH2608 and MH2609 operating between Kuala Lumpur and Labuan on the same day.

Flight cancellations and passenger support

However, the airline has also announced the indefinite suspension of flights to and from several destinations due to safety concerns. These include Sandakan, Miri, and Sibu.

Understanding the inconvenience caused by the cancellations, Malaysia Airlines is offering impacted passengers a one-time free itinerary change or a full refund, regardless of their original fare type.

While some flights are resuming and adjustments are being made, the full impact of the volcanic eruptions on Malaysia Airlines’ schedule is yet to be determined.
