Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim officially opened the Madani Woodlands Recreational Park here today.
The 1.1-hectare park, completed in January 2024 for nearly RM500,000, boasts amenities like children’s playgrounds, multipurpose courts, and jogging tracks.
Madani Recreational Park with sustainable design
The park’s design prioritises sustainability by preserving existing mature trees.
This creates a green and inviting environment for visitors of all ages.
National Landscape Department director-general Mansor Mohamad highlighted the park’s role in promoting health and well-being.
“The Madani Recreational Park concept provides recreational facilities for all age groups, encouraging the community to embrace a healthier lifestyle.”
The park’s opening ceremony coincided with Prime Minister Anwar’s visit to his Tambun constituency for the national-level Firefighters Day celebration.
Upgrading works at the park were completed late last year.
Investment in Perak’s recreational infrastructure
Ipoh mayor Datuk Rumaizi Baharin acknowledged the Ministry of Housing and Local Government’s contribution through the National Landscape Department.
The park’s development was funded under the department’s “Wellbeing 2023” project.
Datuk Rumaizi also revealed the park’s previous name, Woodlands Park Bandar Baru Tambun, and noted that approximately 1.5 hectares of the land is designated as a public recreational park.
The ceremony also saw the symbolic presentation of an RM11 million allocation to Perak by Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming.
In addition to the Madani Woodlands Recreational Park, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim is expected to announce an additional RM10 million for the development of 22 more Madani recreational parks across Perak.
The opening of the Madani Woodlands Recreational Park signifies the government’s commitment to promoting healthy lifestyles and providing accessible recreational facilities for communities in Perak.
