ASELSAN, a leading Turkish defence company, is set to expand its influence in the Asia-Pacific region with its participation in Malaysia’s prestigious DSA-NATSEC International Defence Industry and National Security Exhibition, to be held in Kuala Lumpur from May 6th to 9th, 2024. ASELSAN attends the exhibition together with 1,320 plus companies from 60 countries as exhibitors, and 34 countries hosting their own pavilions. With a strong presence and an extensive line-up of national products, ASELSAN aims to expand its footprint in the Asia-Pacific region.
Mr. Ahmet Akyol, the General Manager of ASELSAN, expressed the company’s commitment to fostering defence industry collaboration between Malaysia and Turkey. “Our participation in one of the largest defence exhibitions in the Asia-Pacific region should firmly signal ASELSAN’s dedication to strengthening ties by providing cutting-edge solutions to meet the technological needs of not just Malaysia but other regional countries as well,” he stated.
ASELSAN Targets Asia-Pacific Expansion
Highlighting Malaysia’s strategic importance in ASELSAN’s global expansion plans, Mr. Akyol emphasized, “Malaysia serves as a strategic hub for our growth plans in the Asia-Pacific. With over two decades of presence in the Malaysian market and the establishment of ASELSAN Malaysian SDN BHD in 2017, we believe we are very well positioned to capitalize on emerging opportunities and deepen our engagement in the region.”
The longstanding cooperation between Malaysia and Türkey in the defence industry provides a solid foundation for ASELSAN’s further push into the region. Both countries have expressed keen interest in further developing cooperation to leverage their joint expertise in defence technologies. This collaborative approach, which extends beyond mere purchase agreements to investments, manufacturing, and technology transfer, aligns with ASELSAN’s vision of building lasting partnerships and contributing to Malaysia’s defence modernization efforts.
ASELSAN aims to elevate Malaysia’s defence capabilities
At the DSA-NATSEC International Exhibition, ASELSAN will present a diverse range of products, with a particular emphasis on advanced naval systems. Mr. Akyol reiterated, “Our participation in the DSA-NATSEC International Exhibition reflects our commitment to sharing ASELSAN’s paradigm-changing technologies in the global battlefield. We are proud to demonstrate our presence and capabilities in Malaysia, which we view as a springboard for our export-oriented growth strategy.”
Aligned with its growth strategy, ASELSAN aims to increase its market share and establish itself as a key player in Malaysia’s defence industry landscape. “By leveraging our national systems and expertise, we seek to elevate Malaysia’s defence capabilities and contribute to the country’s advancement in the global defence arena,” Akyol concluded.
