Malaysia hosts Navatihi Utsavam for Telugu cinema’s 90th year

Malaysia is preparing to host the prestigious Navatihi Utsavam, a grand celebration commemorating the illustrious 90-year legacy of Telugu cinema.

The event, anticipated to be attended by over 50 A-list superstars and 143 stars from Indian cinema, is set to take place at the esteemed Stadium Bukit Jalil in Kuala Lumpur on the 20th of July 2024.

Grand launch at Sunway Pyramid and Sunway Resort

The launch and press conference for the Navatihi Utsavam will be held today at Sunway Pyramid and Sunway Resort, adding an extra layer of grandeur to the event.

The involvement of these prestigious venues aligns perfectly with the event’s prestige and is a testament to their continuous generosity and support.

Presented by the Movie Artist Association (MAA) based in Hyderabad, in collaboration with Tourism Malaysia and organised by local event organiser MC Entertainment, Navatihi Utsavam 2024 has garnered international acclaim.

The event, which marks a significant milestone in promoting Malaysia as a premier filming destination, received bids from other countries such as Dubai, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia.

Navatihi Utsavam: Celebrating cultural exchange

Navatihi Utsavam in Malaysia aims to bring together two nations by showcasing the rich heritage of Telugu cinema in Malaysia.

Edwin Anand Raj, Director of MC Entertainment, expressed his excitement, stating, “This event is a testament to the global appeal and significance of Telugu cinema.”

With over 70,000 local and international spectators expected to gather at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil, the organisers have planned additional events such as the Telugu Creative Workshop and Youth Engagement Programme.

These initiatives aim to honour the timeless legacy of Telugu cinema and foster cultural exchange and appreciation.

Tourism Malaysia extends a warm welcome to all attendees of Navatihi Utsavam, ensuring a hospitable and memorable experience.

The Director General of Tourism Malaysia, Manoharan Periasamy, expressed his excitement, stating, “This event marks a significant milestone in our efforts to promote Malaysia as a premier filming destination.”

Throughout the decades, Telugu cinema has consistently produced cinematic masterpieces that have captivated audiences not only in India but across the globe.

Films like Bahubali 1 & 2, Puspa, and the recent accolade of Academy Award winner for Best Original Song – RRR (2023) – stand as testaments to the industry’s enduring creative excellence and lasting legacy.
