Duopharma Biotech Berhad (“Duopharma”) is once again championing better nutrition for schoolchildren with its CHAMPS® Nutribar range.

As the main sponsor of the nationwide Kempen Pemakanan Seimbang CHAMPS®, Duopharma aims to instil healthy eating habits in primary school students.

This year’s campaign, themed ‘Balanced Nutrition Starts with Breakfast,’ focuses on the importance of breakfast and balanced nutrition.

The initiative is co-organised by Sin Chew Media Corporation and the National Union of School Heads Malaysia and endorsed by the Ministry of Education.

Running until 25 September 2024, the campaign targets primary schools across Peninsular Malaysia.

Nutritionists from the Ministry of Health will visit selected schools to conduct interactive talks on balanced nutrition and the benefits of a healthy breakfast.

These sessions will include engaging performances by magicians. Campaign materials and CHAMPS® Nutribar samples will be distributed at participating schools.

Additionally, Sin Chew Daily’s publications and online channels will promote the campaign, reaching over 200,000 students and parents.

Shamsul Idham Ahad, CEO of Duopharma Consumer Healthcare Sdn Bhd, emphasised the importance of the campaign.

“In line with our mission to provide quality and innovative healthcare solutions, Duopharma is committed to ensuring children receive the necessary nutrition for physical and mental development.

A balanced breakfast is crucial for an energetic start to the day and improved concentration in school,” he said.

Addressing national concerns on child nutrition

The need for improved nutrition among children is pressing.

The prevalence of stunting among children under five in Malaysia increased from 17.7% in 2015 to 21.2% in 2022, far exceeding the target of 11% by 2025 under the National Plan of Action for Nutrition 2016-2025.

The government has recognised this issue and launched the 2022-2030 National Strategic Plan to Combat the Double Burden of Malnutrition Among Children.

Research shows that children who skip breakfast are more likely to be overweight or obese, highlighting the importance of a nutritious breakfast.

CHAMPS® Nutribar, designed to meet schoolchildren’s nutritional needs, offers a healthier alternative to common snacks.

Available in Orange, Blackcurrant, and Banana flavours, it provides energy from natural sources, is high in Vitamin C, and a good source of fibre with low sugar content.

Shamsul Idham Ahad added, “As a proudly Malaysian company, Duopharma supports national efforts to improve children’s health.

CHAMPS® Nutribar is a healthier option designed to cater to the nutritional needs of schoolchildren during their busy days.”
