MyDigital ID Sdn Bhd has announced the online registration of MyDigital ID, the national digital identification system, through its mobile app. This initiative marks a significant step forward in Malaysia’s digital transformation, offering secure and convenient digital identity solutions for seamless access to government services.
First introduced in November 2023, MyDigital ID has quickly gained recognition as a trusted form of digital identification management. It provides secure authentication for online transactions, addressing vulnerabilities in existing online identity verification systems. With the official rollout of its online registration system, Malaysians can now download the MyDigital ID app from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store and register without visiting any physical kiosks.
Simplified access to essential services
MyDigital ID plays a crucial role in ensuring safe and secure access to essential services such as government facilities, financial services, education, and healthcare. The new online registration process eliminates the need for multiple logins across different platforms, providing a single verification system for various apps and portals.
The system has already been integrated with several government applications, including the Human Resources Management Information System (HRMIS) Mobile, MySejahtera, MyJPJ, and MyGov portal. Future integrations with more government services are expected. With MyJPJ, users registered with MyDigital ID no longer need to perform additional biometric verifications at JPJ counters, simplifying and speeding up the process.
Encik Mohd Mirza Mohamed Noor, CEO of MyDigital ID Sdn Bhd, emphasized the significance of this development: “Our online registration marks another profound milestone for us and our country towards achieving secure and seamless digital identity solutions.”
Ensuring security and privacy
A standout feature of MyDigital ID is its robust security measures. The digital certificate is linked to the user’s personal device upon successful registration, offering protection against online fraud and identity theft. The system verifies a user’s identity by comparing the information on a MyKad with the user’s fingerprint or facial features against existing government data, without storing any biometric data.
Since the initiative’s announcement by Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, MyDigital ID registration kiosks have been set up at 200 NRD branches, 8 branches of the National Information Dissemination Centre, and 357 Tealive outlets nationwide. To date, over 600,000 Malaysians have registered with MyDigital ID.
MyDigital ID Sdn Bhd reassures users that it does not collect, monitor, or store personal data, ensuring users maintain a single, secure digital identity. This move aligns with the government’s vision of leveraging technology to empower its citizens and create a more user-friendly and secure digital environment.
The registration for MyDigital ID is now open to all Malaysian citizens. Malaysians are encouraged to visit the official website, www.digital-id.my, for more information and to download the app for seamless and secure access to various services. This initiative represents a pivotal step towards embracing digital identity solutions that prioritize security, privacy, and convenience for all Malaysians.
