Malaysia Airlines has resumed its codeshare agreement with Air Mauritius, expanding travel options and connectivity between Asia, Australia, and Africa.
This renewed partnership, which had been paused during the Covid-19 pandemic, now offers travellers more seamless flight experiences.
It provides convenient connections from Malaysia Airlines’ hub at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).
Passengers can also benefit from Air Mauritius’ hub at Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport (MRU) in Mauritius.
This strategic alignment enhances travel options and connectivity between Asia, Australia, and Africa.
Malaysia Airlines: Broadened travel horizons
With this reinstated codeshare, Malaysia Airlines customers gain access to an extended network that includes direct flights from Kuala Lumpur (KUL) to Mauritius (MRU).
This opens up exciting opportunities for travellers to visit the tropical paradise of Mauritius or explore the scenic beauty of Johannesburg, South Africa (JNB), operated by Air Mauritius.
For those planning a beach getaway or seeking adventure, the codeshare agreement facilitates easier access to these exotic destinations.
Air Mauritius passengers, on the other hand, can benefit from Malaysia Airlines’ extensive domestic network, including flights to popular Malaysian destinations such as Langkawi, Penang, Kota Bharu, Kuantan, and Johor Bahru.
Additionally, they will have seamless connections to various international destinations from Malaysia Airlines’ Kuala Lumpur hub.
Strengthening strategic partnerships
Ahmad Luqman Mohd Azmi, Malaysia Aviation Group Chief Executive Officer, expressed enthusiasm about the reinstated codeshare.
“We are delighted to resume our codeshare with Air Mauritius as we expand our reach and enhance connectivity for travellers.
This strategic move further solidifies Malaysia Airlines’ position as the gateway to Asia and beyond, providing seamless access for our customers to explore various destinations beyond our metal,” said Azmi.
He added that the partnership will enable Malaysia Airlines to extend its renowned Malaysian hospitality to a broader audience.
Charles Cartier, CEO of Air Mauritius, also welcomed the renewed collaboration.
“Air Mauritius is pleased to reactivate its collaboration with Malaysia Airlines, offering our passengers connections to numerous destinations across Asia and Australia via the Kuala Lumpur hub. Travellers from Malaysia will experience the warmth of our multi-cultural society and the richness of our diverse local cuisine,” Cartier noted.
He highlighted the convenience of connecting to Rodrigues, Reunion, South Africa, and beyond with Air Mauritius.
The revitalised codeshare agreement between Malaysia Airlines and Air Mauritius marks an exciting development for travellers seeking diverse global experiences.
Whether exploring the vibrant cultures of Asia and Australia or enjoying the natural splendours of Africa, this partnership enhances travel flexibility and connectivity.
