National squash star Sivasangari Subramaniam has teamed up with MILO® to promote the significance of sports in Malaysia.
This collaboration with MILO® marks a pivotal moment in Sivasangari’s journey, as she reunites with the brand that played a crucial role in shaping her career from her early days as a young athlete.
Sivasangari’s journey with MILO®
Sivasangari began her remarkable journey in sports through MILO®’ grassroots programs, participating in various MILO®-sponsored events from the age of 10.
Her early achievements include victories in the MILO® Nicol David Trophy and the MILO® All-Stars International under-13 championship in 2011.
At just 13, she emerged as the champion in the MILO®-Sport Excel 2nd Leg under-19 category, a testament to her exceptional talent.
Her consistent performance earned her the title of “Most Promising Female Athlete” at the 2011 MOE-MSSM-MILO® Awards, highlighting the brand’s commitment to nurturing young athletes.
Lim Ker Win, Head of Sports Marketing at MILO®, Nestlé (Malaysia) Berhad, emphasised the alignment between MILO®’s mission and Sivasangari’s journey.
“This partnership is a perfect reflection of MILO®’s dedication to promoting positive values through active lifestyles and sportsmanship,” said Lim.
“We hope this collaboration inspires children across Malaysia to pursue sports with the same passion and determination that Sivasangari has shown.
We are honoured to support her on this journey and look forward to celebrating her future successes.”
The road to the 2028 Olympics
As a friend of MILO®, Sivasangari will receive financial support for her training and fees, with the ultimate goal of helping her prepare for the 2028 Olympics, where squash will make its debut as an Olympic sport.
Currently ranked world No. 10, Sivasangari expressed her gratitude for the ongoing support from MILO®.
“I am so grateful for this collaboration with MILO®, which has been a tremendous source of support and inspiration throughout my squash career,” she said.
“From my early days in the sport, MILO® has been there, helping me develop both as an athlete and an individual.”
This partnership also brings Sivasangari full circle, reuniting her with a brand that has been integral to her journey from the very beginning.
“It’s a full-circle moment for me to be reunited with a brand that has been a part of my journey from the start!” she added.
To celebrate the partnership, MILO® has released a teaser video featuring Sivasangari in training.
The video includes a nostalgic scene where Abang MILO® offers her a nutritious cup of MILO® from the iconic MILO® truck, accompanied by the uplifting message, “Bersama kita menyokong atlet masa depan, Malaysia Boleh!” (“Together with MILO®, let’s support the futures of athletes together, Malaysia Boleh!”).
The video is available on MILO® Malaysia’s official social media platforms, including Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook.
MILO® has been a cornerstone of the Malaysian sports landscape since the 1950s, playing a vital role in the development of young talent across various sports.
Through its unwavering support, MILO® has not only helped shape athletes like Sivasangari but also instilled life-long values of resilience and determination.
As Sivasangari prepares for the 2028 Olympics, her partnership with MILO® serves as a powerful reminder of the impact that nurturing young talent can have on their journey to success.
