In celebration of Ipoh City Council‘s 36th anniversary, the city honoured its cleanest restaurants, cafes, petrol stations, and supermarkets today.
The event, officiated by Mayor Dato’ Rumaizi bin Baharin @ Md Daud, highlighted the importance of cleanliness and proper hygiene across the city’s food and public facilities.
Top restaurants and cafes honoured by Ipoh City Council
As part of Ipoh City Council’s anniversary festivities, a competition was held to assess the cleanliness of food outlets.
Among the 14 participating restaurants and cafes, Restoran People Park Sdn Bhd emerged as the first-place winner, earning a cash prize of RM1,500 and a certificate of appreciation.
The second-place award went to Restoran Tandoor Grill (JMJ Food & Beverages Sdn Bhd), which received RM1,000, while Restoran Brother & Sisters Food Hub Sdn Bhd secured third place with RM500.
Additionally, seven other establishments received consolation prizes of RM250 each.
Rumaizi emphasised the significance of continuous monitoring and evaluations, stressing that maintaining high cleanliness standards is vital for the city’s reputation and public health.
“These awards not only recognise the hard work of our businesses but also set benchmarks for others to follow, ensuring that Ipoh remains a clean and welcoming city for both residents and visitors,” he stated.
Recognising cleanliness in public toilets and supermarkets
In addition to food establishments, Ipoh City Council also awarded petrol stations and supermarkets for their cleanliness.
The Cleanest Public Toilet Awards for Petrol Stations saw (Shell) Bahakhi Petromart, Jalan Hospital, take the top spot, earning RM1,500.
The second place went to (Shell) Kinta Urus Sdn Bhd, Susuran Lebuhraya Utara (Meru), with a prize of RM1,000, while (Shell) DN Petromart, Jalan Kuala Kangsar, secured third place with RM750. Three other petrol stations received consolation prizes of RM250 each.
For supermarkets, Aeon Mall Ipoh Klebang won first place and took home RM1,500. Aeon Ipoh Station 18 was awarded RM1,000 for second place, and Aeon Mall Kinta City, Ipoh, received RM750 for third place.
Three other supermarkets were also recognised with RM250 consolation prizes.
The Environmental Health Department of the Ipoh City Council has been actively inspecting food establishments and public toilets to ensure high standards of cleanliness.
In 2024 alone, 981 restaurants, cafes, and food outlets have been graded, reflecting the council’s commitment to public health and hygiene.
The Ipoh City Council’s initiative to award the cleanest establishments is more than just a celebration—it’s a call to action for all businesses to uphold the city’s standards of cleanliness.
Rumaizi hopes that more establishments will participate in future competitions, further raising the bar for hygiene across Ipoh.
The public is encouraged to use the MyGred MBI system to check the cleanliness ratings of food establishments they visit, promoting a cleaner environment for all.
