Marriott International has officially opened the Penang Marriott Complex, a landmark development located along Gurney Drive in George Town.
This 55-storey tower, which features three distinct brands under one roof, marks the company’s 50th property in Malaysia, solidifying its growth in the Asia-Pacific region.
The Penang Marriott Complex comprises the 223-room Penang Marriott Hotel, the 90-suite Marriott Executive Apartments, Penang, and the 302-unit Marriott Residences Penang, offering guests and residents an all-encompassing experience of luxury and modern convenience.
Luxury and culinary delights at Penang Marriott Hotel
Guests staying at the Penang Marriott Hotel can indulge in a variety of culinary experiences.
The hotel features Kucina, an Italian restaurant, Sago for all-day dining with both local and international dishes, and Lava Java, offering light meals and snacks.
For those seeking relaxation, the hotel also offers a 24-hour fitness centre, a steam room, and an outdoor infinity swimming pool that boasts stunning views of the Gurney seafront.
This hotel component is designed to cater to both business and leisure travellers, offering modern amenities while preserving a timeless charm.
“The Penang Marriott Complex, the first in Malaysia to include three brands from the Marriott Bonvoy portfolio, is a fitting addition.
We are excited to offer guests Marriott’s signature blend of modern amenities and timeless charm, creating lasting memories in one of Malaysia’s most sought-after island destinations,” said Rajeev Menon, Marriott International’s president of Asia-Pacific excluding China.
Premier long-stay apartments and exclusive residences
For longer stays, the Penang Marriott Complex offers the Marriott Executive Apartments, which include one- and two-bedroom units equipped with living areas and gourmet kitchens.
Designed for extended visits, these apartments provide premier hotel services alongside the comforts of home. Residents can also enjoy access to fitness and business centres, ensuring both convenience and luxury.
The Marriott Residences Penang, on the other hand, offer a more permanent stay option with 302 units featuring high-end amenities such as a 45-metre infinity pool, a communal clubhouse, a gymnasium, and even a herb garden.
Comprehensive services, including concierge and housekeeping, along with 24-hour security, are also provided, making it an attractive option for those seeking a luxurious lifestyle in the heart of Penang.
The launch of the Penang Marriott Complex is expected to further boost Penang’s tourism industry.
Former Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng, who attended the opening ceremony, said, “This development strengthens our capacity to welcome visitors from all over the world while also enriching the experiences they will have here.”
With its prime location and range of offerings, the complex not only caters to tourists but also adds value to the local economy, further positioning Penang as a world-class travel and living destination.
With the Penang Marriott Complex now operational, Marriott International continues its strong expansion in the Asia-Pacific region. “Opening Marriott International’s 50th property in Malaysia marks a significant milestone in our Asia-Pacific growth journey,” said Rajeev Menon.
The new complex is expected to attract both international visitors and locals, contributing to Penang’s growing reputation as a premier destination in Southeast Asia.
As Marriott International continues to expand its footprint, the Penang Marriott Complex stands out as a key addition, offering a seamless blend of luxury, comfort, and convenience to its guests and residents alike.
