The Wetlands Wonderfest, held on October 5th and 6th at Paya Indah Discovery Wetlands, will provide nature lovers and families with a weekend of outdoor adventures.
The carnival, hosted by Gamuda Land, celebrates the recent tripartite agreement between Gamuda Land, the Federal Government, and the Selangor State Government, which designates Gamuda Land as the operator of this biodiversity sanctuary.
New adventures in ecotourism
Paya Indah Discovery Wetlands, situated within Gamuda Cove, spans 1,111 acres and is an ecotourism hub in Southern Klang Valley.
The wetlands, opened to the public in January 2020, boast a rich variety of wildlife, including 225 species of birds, 14 types of reptiles, and even hippos and crocodiles.
Senior General Manager of Gamuda Land, Ve Lyn Liong, explained the vision behind the Wetlands Wonderfest: “We aim to create a relaxing space where visitors can unwind, rejuvenate, and discover the wonders of nature.”
During the two-day Wetlands Wonderfest, attendees can enjoy existing attractions like boat cruises, safari rides, and animal feeding sessions.
For a more interactive experience, visitors can explore new additions such as the Donut Boat Ride and Shuttle Truck Ride at Tasik Rusiga, as well as the GL Play Inflatable Land.
Interactive experiences and eco-learning
The Wetlands Wonderfest not only offers exciting outdoor activities but also promotes nature conservation and education.
The wetlands are designed as an eco-learning hub for visitors of all ages, offering opportunities to bond with nature and gain a deeper understanding of biodiversity.
The Paya Indah Discovery Wetlands Gallery will also be open, showcasing the local flora and fauna with plans for refurbishment to include more interactive exhibits.
Visitors can enjoy free entry to the festival, and convenient shuttle services will transport guests throughout the wetlands, enhancing accessibility.
Gamuda Land’s commitment to sustainability shines through in the design of Gamuda Cove, which includes SplashMania Waterpark, Wetlands Arboretum Centre, and Discovery Park.
The development prioritises low carbon emissions, with e-trams and shaded walkways encouraging eco-friendly transport.
According to Ve Lyn Liong, these initiatives aim to inspire Malaysians, especially schoolchildren, to appreciate and protect the natural world.
With activities running from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. over two days, Wetlands Wonderfest promises a memorable experience for all who attend, blending entertainment with an important message about environmental conservation.
Whether it’s meeting the hippos or browsing the pop-up bazaars, there’s something for everyone at this weekend’s nature extravaganza.
